Background of Development

When resin products manufactured with injection molding are pulled off the mold, the surface of the products is charged with static electricity. This static electricity draws dust particles in the air to the product and makes them to stick onto the surface. During the painting process, such dust may cause painting defects because it hinders paint from being evenly on the surface. To avoid such defects, in painting or coating factories for resin products, static electricity and the dust is removed by way of a static eliminating system using air-gun type ionizers, before the painting or the coating process.

Traditionally, this static eliminating system consists of an air gun to discharge ionized air for neutralization, a large transformer to generate a high voltage, and a high-voltage cable to connect these components. However, there are some issues to be considered at the workshop; a large transformer cannot be installed in all sites, and the cable, which is repeatedly bent, causes the cable cover breakage or the cable disconnection, posing a risk of electric shock.

The VESSEL’s BBZ-E Power-up Gun-type Ionizer is newly developed with a background like the above with the following features:

1) A high voltage transformer to generate ion is built in the body, and

2) A low voltage 24VDC is applied as the working voltage, and

3) A dedicated Silent Straight Nozzle is developed to make the noise level lower in the factory,

4) A 5m elastic robotic cable is adopted for the power cable allowing to be used in a widespread working area, and

5) The connector between the power cable and the body is designed for vibration-resistant for more improved durability.

Product Features

●With the AC Corona discharge method, the ion balance will not be disrupted by the dirt on the needle. A high frequency voltage transformer is used to reduce losses due to ion recombination, and efficiently generates ions.

●Silent Straight Nozzle with outstanding silencing effect is mounted. Noise levels are approx. 10 db lower than the standard nozzle used with VESSEL’s conventional models.

●High speed air discharge enables a stable static elimination and dust removal.

●Super luminosity LED light below the nozzle illuminates dust particles.

●The “ON” LED and High Voltage Alarm LED are located on both sides of the grip so the operational state can be checked at a glance.

•“ON” lamp: Turns GREEN when the trigger is pulled and operation is performed.

•High Voltage Alarm LED lamp: Turns RED when the built-in transformer stops with an error.

●Safe design with no need for a high voltage cable wiring and with a high-frequency voltage transformer built-in. Compact and lightweight design for easy handling. 24VDC input power is supplied to the BBZ-E through AC adapter (input: 100 to 240VAC) (accessory).

●The AC adapter has a 5m cable, enabling use of the BBZ-E over a widespread area.

●The electrode needle can be easily replaced with the dedicated electrode needle replacement screwdriver (Needle Pole Replacement Changer). (sold separately).

●Environmentally friendly product complying with RoHS Standards.

●The low noise characteristics have almost no effect on other electronic devices.

●CE compliant product: the tests are performed following the directive EN61000-6-4 and 6-2.

Posed with the challenge “Can fastening precision be improved with the bit itself?”, VESSEL explored the [Shockless bit] to find an answer. We found a hint in torsion bits commonly used for architecture. Torsion bits have a torsion zone with thin bit shank which absorbs the impact during screw seating, and thus can greatly reduce chipping of the tool tip. By incorporating a combination of a very hard bit shank and zinc members, the shockless bit absorbs the impact and moment of inertia at seating. An outstanding cushioning and durability is attained while realizing a stable tightening torque. This tool is perfect for mass production lines which place priority on durability, and for tightening precision screws in hard disks and substrate assemblies which are susceptible to impact and vibration.

Developmental background

Until recently it was thought that carrying two sizes of  screwdrivers would suffice the needs of electricians.
These are screwdrivers for No.2 philips screws and slotted screws.

However, these days, we see more and more No.3 philips screws used on electrical switchboards with the prevalence of 200V power system in all-electric houses and facilities.
If the screwdriver tip is not suitable for these No.3 philips screws, it often results in breakage of the driver tip or damage of the screw heads.

Having taken this current situation into consideration, we decided to add a new No.3 philips size to the line-up of our long-selling Ball-Grip screwdrivers. This new addition has an ideal shank length and tip diameter for electrical switchboard work.

Developmental background
